Friday Focus: Importance of a Routine

In business as well as personal life a routine is essential to create sustained commitment and consistent results.

From arriving at work at a set time, going to the gym, scheduling appointments or other work tasks are all able to be completed through a solid routine. By setting aside time on a consistent schedule to accomplish tasks, it makes them easier to complete and hard to avoid, as well as not causing you to spend unnecessary time on things that can be easily completed or overthought.

Everyone has difficult or unexciting but necessary tasks to accomplish everyday and in effect are easier to avoid or delay. With a consistent routine in place, one will have time less wasted during the day and by taking a further step, by adding tasks to a schedule or calendar puts tasks in focus and effectively allows for them to be accomplished.

Start small when creating a routine for yourself, everyone is unique, has different responsibilities in their personal lives and changing requirements at work, depending on the different industries or business sectors they may work in. Try to make one or two aspects of your day become routine and the rest will slowly fall in place.
